Provincial government has to focus on effective methods of crowd control

After closely following the recent mass protests in Gwadar, the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) said it is now imperative for the state to end its policy of giving Balochistan second-class status.


"The HRCP condemns the violence that resulted in the martyrdom of a policeman during the recent protests, and urges the provincial government to protect people's right to freedom of peaceful assembly by focusing on effective crowd control methods. ,” he said on Monday in the statement.


However, in the medium term, the provincial government has a responsibility to negotiate with the protesters and give their demands a fair hearing. Their legitimate complaints center on the demands that every citizen of Pakistan is entitled to the right to security, freedom of movement and peaceful assembly, access to clean water, education and health care, an end to enforced disappearances and economic opportunity and Livelihood Furthermore, Balochistan's unofficial media blackout and its problems should end given the attention it has long received.
