Families of the victims have identified their remains, which were found in the Sarawan region and are currently being held at the Khash mortuary. Hani Gul was known for her involvement in human rights activities in Balochistan and had previously claimed to have been abducted by Pakistani intelligence agencies along with her ex-fiancee Naseem Baloch. While Hani was eventually released after alleged torture, Naseem's current whereabouts remain unknown.

Samir Baloch, on the other hand, was the brother of teacher Abdul Rauf Baloch from the Turbat area of Eastern Balochistan. Abdul Rauf was tragically killed following accusations of blasphemy, which subsequently led to mass protests in Turbat. Any potential links between these incidents and the abduction of the couple have yet to be determined.
