Chief Justice of Pakistan should ensure the recovery of enforced disappeared persons - VBMP Voice for Baloch Missing Persons Chairman Nasrullah Baloch, Vice Chairman Mama Qadeer Baloch, and Hooran Baloch, while addressing a press conference at VBMP's protest camp for recovery of Baloch Missing Persons in front of the Quetta Press Club, said that "Neither any government nor any courts established for the provision of justice have taken practical steps to ensure the recovery of enforced disappearances and to prevent forced disappearances. Due to this, state institutions and state Law enforcement agencies have continued the series of enforced disappearances and the recovery of missing persons has come to a halt. The missing persons are being killed in fake encounters, causing severe mental agony and distress to their families. Therefore, we have decided at the organizational level to file a constitutional petition in the Supreme Court of Pakistan to ensure the recovery of missing persons and to prevent forced disappearances. At the organizational level, it has also been decided that Senior Advocate Itezaz Ahsan will lead the team for filing a petition in the Supreme Court for the recovery of enforced disappeared persons from all four provinces." VBMP leaders said that, they will request the Supreme Court to ensure that the release of missing persons in Balochistan, the profiling of Baloch students, and their surveillance, which was constituted on the orders of the Islamabad High Court, is definitively addressed. Nasrullah Baloch, with reference to the report prepared by the commission under the leadership of Sardar Akhtar Mengal, informed the journalists that when the commission visited the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons protest camp in Quetta, they met with the organization's leaders and the relatives of missing persons. During the meeting, approximately 600 relatives of missing persons from various regions of Balochistan were present, and we provided the commission with complete details of the cases of their missing loved ones. We also provided the commission with the recommendations passed by the United Nations Assembly in September 2016 for the resolution of enforced disappearances. The commission has included the cases of nearly 600 missing persons and the recommendations passed by the United Nations Assembly in their report, which has been submitted to the Islamabad High Court. They said that we believe that the Supreme Court should first ensure the implementation of the report prepared by the commission constituted on the orders of the Islamabad High Court. Voice for Baloch Missing Persons Chairman Nasrullah Baloch said that the families of the missing persons, who have not provided complete details of their missing loved ones to Voice for Baloch Missing Persons, should immediately submit their cases with complete details so that we can submit them to the Supreme Court. Finally, Nasrullah Baloch expressed hope that Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Honorable Justice Qazi Faez Isa, will use his constitutional powers to ensure the recovery of missing persons and to prevent forced disappearances.
