Khuzdar - CTD kills three Baloch missing persons in a fake encounter - VBMP

In the city of Khuzdar, Balochistan, the police force (CTD) killed three individuals in a fake encounter last days. The mutilated bodies were transferred to the Civil Hospital Khuzdar, bodies were identified as Aftab Sumalani, Abdullah s/o Arz Muhammad, and Hamza s/o Ibrahim.

According to Voice for Baloch Missing Persons, a human rights organization working on the recoveries of Baloch missing persons in Balochistan, these three individuals were on the list of missing persons allegedly taken into illegal custody by Pakistani security forces and agencies in various rounds over this year.

As per the statement issued by Voice for Baloch Missing Persons, Aftab Sumalani was abducted by forces from Hazar Ganji area of Quetta on August 11 this year, Abdullah s/o Arz Muhammad was abducted from Khuzdar a year ago, and the third young man, Hamza s/o Ibrahim, had been missing for the past three years from Washuk.

According to information received by Radio Zrumbesh, about three to four years ago when state forces initiated the formation of death squads in the Raghe area of Washuk district, armed groups started blackmailing and involving local youth in their activities. Hamza s/o Ibrahim had refused to work with these armed death squads, leading to his abduction and subsequent killing in a fake encounter by CTD.

Before this incident, CTD forces in Balochistan had previously killed dozens in fake encounters, most of whom were already missing persons killed after being handed over to the forces.

Meanwhile, cases of enforced disappearances in various regions of Balochistan continue to rise. Just late day, three Baloch youths were forcibly disappeared – one from Quetta, two from Turbat, and one from Karachi.

Among those forcibly disappeared from Quetta are two brothers who were taken by forces from the area of Ghos Abad. In the past ten days of the current month, reports of enforced disappearances of at least twenty individuals have been reported.
