The vice-chairman of the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons, Mama Qadeer Baloch, has called for individuals captured during the war in Balochistan to be recognized as war prisoners under the Geneva Convention. Speaking at a protest camp established for the recovery of enforced disappeared individuals and justice for Baloch martyrs, Baloch emphasized the need for these individuals to be granted the right to a fair trial and the opportunity to defend themselves publicly. Baloch also stressed the importance of enforcing laws and the Constitution.
During a visit to the protest camp, delegations from various parts of Balochistan expressed solidarity with the cause. Mama Qadeer Baloch highlighted that the camp had been running for 5141 days, symbolizing the enduring struggle for justice.
The solidarity event also witnessed the presence of Mohammad Hassan Mengal Advocate, Zamir Changezi, Mohammad Hussain from Karachi, and others who visited the camp to show support. In a critical stance against the Pakistani media, Mama Qadeer Baloch accused news channels of concealing illegal activities by Pakistani forces in Balochistan while focusing on trivial matters. He warned that if human rights continue to be disregarded and laws remain unenforced, the public will be compelled to revolt against tyranny. Baloch emphasized that the state often exploits these rebellions to undermine human rights, spurred by its own policies. To strengthen and maintain human rights, Baloch urged human rights organizations to integrate their advocacy efforts with fundamental issues.
According to Mama Qadeer Baloch, Balochistan is currently experiencing a war-like environment, with the Pakistani army and other forces arbitrarily disappearing individuals without proper legal procedures. Many of the victims are not involved in armed conflicts with Pakistan. Baloch argued that when individuals suspected or accused of being associated with armed conflict or organizations are arrested in Balochistan, humankind demands that they be treated as war prisoners and that their rights be upheld.
