Lahore - BYC protest against Dera Bugti Operation, Baloch Genocide, and Enforced Disappearances
A protest demonstration was held by Baloch Yakjehti Committee Lahore, at Liberty Chowk in Lahore against the ongoing military aggression in Dera Bugti by Pakistani forces, And Baloch genocide being carried out under the guise of 'Gang Wars' in Lyari, and the forced disappearances of Baloch by the security forces.
The protesters claimed that the state has been carrying out systematic Baloch genocide with extreme brutality for an extended period. For the past two weeks, Dera Bugti has been under siege by the state's military, where Baloch homes are either set on fire or they are abducted in broad daylight, those who were responsible for our protection are now the perpetrators of our mass killings.
It should be noted that the internet services and communication channels have been cut off in Dera Bugti, making it impossible to gauge the extent of ongoing oppression and injustice. The protesters highlighted that the killing of Ijaz Baloch is not the first incident where the security forces have martyred Baloch in fake encounters. The state's Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) is the latest tool for Baloch genocide.
Lyari, a land of the Baloch, has always been at the forefront in literature and art but under the guise of development, a new wave of gang wars has started in Lyari, with the sole purpose of destroying Lyari and the Baloch community.
In conclusion, the protesters asserted that the state is socially responsible for the Baloch genocide. From Dera Bugti to Lyari, Baloch people are not safe anywhere in the face of the state's oppressive policies. It is time for the Baloch community to come together and resist this systemic oppression collectively. Otherwise, as Baloch, our identity and existence are not secure on either front.
